Studio Policy Update

Effective immediately, masks are optional if you have been fully vaccinated! Those who have not been fully vaccinated are encouraged to continue wearing one until you get that jab.

A massive, heartfelt thank you to everyone for staying so positive, patient, and understanding as we all navigated the chaos of this last year. This studio would never have made it through if it weren’t for you.

So let’s get back to business as usual. Check out the schedule online to snag a spot in one of our group classes or book a private session with one of our amazing instructors. We’ll see you soon!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Go Red for Women Raffle

MSPS is partnering with the American Heart Association’s Go Red for for Women campaign.

We are a team of changemakers who are excited to engage our networks to make the biggest impact possible on women’s health! We’re raising much-needed funds for the American Heart Association and working to improve the health of our communities. I am hoping I can count on your support!

This challenge is personally important to me, because I’ve seen the devastating effects of heart disease on the women we love. Throughout history, women have stepped up.  Stepped out. Overcome opposition. Led the workforce. Joined forces. Blasted into space.

Women’s passion has made history … but their actual hearts haven’t. Heart disease and stroke have never been just men’s diseases, but through the years women have been left out of scientific studies.

Underrepresented. Uncounted. UNTREATED.

Now we are fighting for better representation in medical research. Fighting for equitable access to care and treatments. Fighting to spread lifesaving information to our sisters. Fighting to overcome the No. 1 killer of women.

Watch me change history.

Watch me be counted.

Watch me Go Red.

It’s not just about wearing red. It’s not just about sharing heart health facts. It’s about all of us making a commitment to stand together with Go Red for Women in the fight for heart-health equality.

The time is now.

When we take a stand and work together, real change is possible.

Together, we can make an impact.

There are two ways to help make a difference:

-attend either of our HeartStrong reformer classes and a portion of the proceeds will be donated under your name,

-make a direct donation by following the link below. For each donation, your name will be entered into a raffle to win a free Group Class Ten Pack! Raffle will be held after this campaign ends on March 18th. The more times you donate, the more chances you have to win. Every cent counts!

Here we go again...

The city of New Orleans has been pushed back into a modified Phase One for the next three weeks, starting January 8, 2021.

What does that mean for the studio?

Not much, it turns out. We are still open for business and are continuing to offer private sessions and small group classes throughout the day.

Our small class sizes normally allow for seven feet spacing between clients, but just to be on the extremely safe side, we have capped class enrollment to only three participants at a time. Which is actually good news for you: that means the instructors will be paying even closer attention to your form ;)

Masks are still required, temps will still be taken before class, hands will still be washed, and hands-off instruction is still in effect.

Options for you…

If you are not comfortable coming into the studio at this time, we completely understand! Reach out to us and we will put a hold on your package until you are ready to resume. In the meantime, might we suggest visiting our Virtual Studio to take one of our Pilates Mat, Strength and Conditioning, HIIT or Mobility classes at home? Or try one of our Pilates Mat Pop-Up classes held in Audubon Park with Melissa? Classes are only $10 and are held every Sunday at 10:30, weather permitting (don’t forget your sunscreen and mask!).

We are almost through this, y’all. It’s been a rough year, but there is light on the horizon. Keep strong. Keep washing your hands. Keep socially distancing. And for the love of your neighbor, KEEP WEARING YOUR MASK!

We got this!

Phase Two

HEY Y'ALL!

Group Equipment classes are coming back on schedule! Please be aware of our new policies at the studio during this time:

Maple Street Pilates is no longer using Mindbody for scheduling, so all registration and payment will go directly through our website. We ask that you please make sure all of your intake forms have been filled out and you have registered for an account before your first scheduled class. If you had a group class membership on file before the shutdown, you will be able to use the remainder of that package.

  • Please wait either outside or in your car until the instructor has indicated the studio is ready for you to come in

  • Your temperature will be taken before class begins

  • You must to wash/sanitize your hands before class starts and as often as you feel necessary

  • The waiting area will be closed during this time, so please be mindful of what you bring to the studio (purses, bags, etc.) as you will be asked to store your belongings next to your reformer

  • Masks will be required in the common areas and highly encouraged during your workout for the safety of other participants

  • Please come dressed and ready for class

  • Socks are highly encouraged during this time

Our instructors will continue to wear face masks and take all precautions as Phase One (taking temps, washing hands, using gloves, etc.) and we ask that you will as well.

We appreciate your understanding of these new policies. We are very excited to start getting back to (a new) normal and hope to see you in the studio very soon!

Xoxo,

Laura, Alicia, and Lilah

CH-Ch-Changes at MSPS

This has been quite a time! With everything that has been going on in the world, I’ve been forced to step back and reevaluate my little studio. I love this little space so much and am so proud of what it’s become in the year+ it’s been open, but I realize that it’s not going to be business as usual as we move forward in this new uncertain terrain. That being said, there have been a few changes to Maple Street Pilates…

Improvement 1: The equipment has been moved back downstairs. The main reason I decided on this move is that I can space the equipment a little farther apart, allowing for better social distancing protocols during classes. It is absolutely beautifully set up and I cannot wait for y’all to see and experience it for yourself!

Improvement 2: A much less complicated client scheduling experience. Though I am sad to say goodbye to MindBody, it was necessary at this point in time to switch. Everything will now be done directly through www.maplestreetpilates.com. No more third party platform redirect, no more apps. You will still have access to great discounted pricing through packages and (when the time comes) monthly memberships. Just head to our website on your computer or phone and click on any of the scheduling buttons to access our schedule and sign up for classes.

Improvement 3: We will still offer Pilates Mat classes through our online virtual platform. So no matter where you are and no matter what time of day, you’ll have access to our both our On Demand and Live streaming classes! You can access our Virtual Studio through our website on your computer or phone.

With these new improvements come a learning curve, but I am positive that we will navigate this together. I will give it my all to make this as seamless of a transition as possible. I love you and miss you all, but we will be back at it and stronger than ever in no time!

Open for business...(soon)!

Hey, friends!

As the city starts to reopen for business, I just wanted to touch base and let you know my plans and strategy to safely continue your Pilates practice. There are going to be a number of changes, but I am sure that we will be able to navigate this together.

Starting this Monday, May 18, MSPS will be reopening in two stages. Stage One will be private instruction only and Stage Two will be to start group classes at a later date, once the city has determined it is safe to do so. Of course, we will be following all CDC guidelines and make any necessary adjustments as this situation evolves.

What the studio instructors will be doing: All instructors will be wearing personal protective equipment: masks and single use gloves that will be discarded after each appointment. Every piece of equipment (straps, ropes, springs, bars and all props used) and “common areas" (doorknobs, light switches, etc…) will be thoroughly cleaned with soap and water first and then sanitized before and after each session. There will be no hands on cueing or assisting as we will be respecting social distancing and there will only be one instructor/client in the studio at one time. Appointments will be scheduled with a longer “buffer” in between to make sure the studio is properly sanitized and ready for you.

What you will be required to do: Wear a mask during your session. This will be a bit of an adjustment and we will make any necessary changes to your routine until you feel more comfortable. You will also be required to have your temperature taken with a contactless thermometer and thoroughly wash your hands before each session. The waiting area will be closed, so you can wait in your car or outside until you receive a phone call or text from the instructor letting you know when the studio is ready for your appointment. If you are not feeling well, stay home! If you are living with someone who is not feeling well, stay home!

If you are not quite comfortable with coming back to the studio right now, I completely understand. I will continue to offer virtual private instruction and On Demand classes via MSPS Virtual Studio for the foreseeable future, so you can workout in the comfort of your own home.

If you had a package on file before the shutdown: it will be reinstated with extended expiration dates so you can continue to use that payment. The same will apply to my group class members as we enter Stage Two.

To sign up for private instruction: head directly to www.maplestreetpilates.com and sign up from there. The studio will no longer be using Mindbody for scheduling, rather we have integrated a much more user friendly experience that you can access from your computer or phone. If you had a package on file before the shutdown, you will be able to use the remainder for your sessions.

Group classes: the current guidelines state that we can only operate at 25% capacity, so that will not allow us to offer in-person group classes at this time. I will update via email and social media as to when that changes. In the meantime, I will continue to offer Live streaming and On Demand classes on MSPS Virtual Studio. Check those out at www.maplestreetpilates.com!

So that’s the plan for now. This is chaos, my friends, but I am so grateful for all of the support you have shown me and the studio during this time. I truly value you and miss all of your smiling faces! Please reach out to me with any thoughts, questions, or concerns you may have about the strategy outlined above. I would love to hear your feedback!
